Lawyer for former Minority Leader Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin, F. Paa Kwesi Abaidoo, has announced the filing of fresh defamation suits against Eric Adjei, Chief Executive of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), and Sammy Gyamfi, Chief Executive of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the law firm Dehyena Chambers said a fresh writ, numbered GJ/0061/2027, had been filed at the Accra High Court against Adjei over alleged defamatory statements he made about Afenyo-Markin on Peace FM.

The development follows the discontinuance of an earlier suit brought by Afenyo-Markin against Adjei at the Achimota Circuit Court.

According to the statement, the new action concerns the substantive allegations of defamation arising from Adjei's comments, with the legal team indicating that the matter has now been brought before the Accra High Court.

Second suit targets Sammy Gyamfi

The statement also confirmed that a separate defamation action had been filed against Sammy Gyamfi over comments he allegedly made during the Government Accountability Series and on JOY FM's Newsfile programme.

The suit, numbered GJ/0045/2027, was filed at the Accra High Court on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

Afenyo-Markin's legal team said the action was initiated over statements attributed to Gyamfi in connection with the two media platforms.

The lawyers further disclosed that the new writ against Adjei had been issued in accordance with the court's latest interpretation of the applicable rules, despite their disagreement with an earlier High Court decision that set aside a previous writ filed on their client's behalf.

Lawyers defend decision to pursue fresh legal action

In the statement, Dehyena Chambers maintained that the decision to file the fresh writ against Adjei was consistent with the court's latest interpretation of the rules.

The legal team expressed disagreement with the earlier ruling but indicated that it had proceeded in accordance with the court's interpretation.

The statement was signed by F. Paa Kwesi Abaidoo, solicitor for Osahen Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin.

The fresh legal actions place the disputed public statements before the Accra High Court for determination. The allegations remain subject to the court process.
