Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has been arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after voluntarily surrendering himself to assist with an ongoing investigation.
EOCO said Mr Baffour Awuah, Senior Partner of Sarkodie, Baffour Awuah and Partners, reported to its premises at about 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
The agency said his arrest followed several months of efforts to secure his attendance before investigators over allegations involving criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering, tax-related offences and other matters under investigation.
“Mr. Baffour Awuah was subsequently placed under arrest and is currently cooperating with investigators as the investigative process proceeds,” EOCO said.
The Office said it had commenced the applicable investigative and operational procedures following his appearance.
EOCO assured the public that the investigation would be conducted professionally, independently and in accordance with due process.
It said investigators would pursue all relevant lines of inquiry, examine the available evidence and ensure that all persons involved are afforded their rights under the Constitution and applicable laws.
The agency also urged the public to allow the investigative and judicial processes to proceed without speculation or premature conclusions about the culpability of any individual.
EOCO said it would provide further information when appropriate and legally permissible.
