Members of the Ejisu Municipal Assembly have renewed calls for President John Dramani Mahama to remove Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Jerryne Asante, giving him another week to act over allegations of misconduct and disregard for Assembly decisions.
The members announced their demand at a press conference on Friday, October 16, 2026, saying their concerns remain unresolved more than two months after they first called for her resignation or replacement.
Their spokesperson, George Kuntu Blankson, the Assembly Member for the Kwamo Electoral Area, accused the MCE of undermining the Assembly’s authority and contributing to poor administration of municipal resources.
He alleged that Ms Asante colluded with the Municipal Head of Works to issue a fraudulent building permit receipt and used her official vehicle to facilitate alleged extortion by the Municipal Engineer. He also accused her of attempting to transfer the Municipal Finance Officer and failing to address sanitation challenges in the municipality.
The allegations have not been independently established.
The Assembly members further cited disagreements over the enforcement of a High Court order to demolish a building encroaching on a road at Achiakrom, as well as the removal of laterite dumped on a wetland along the River Baffoe near the Ejisuman Senior High School road.
The group first issued a one-week ultimatum on July 24, but later suspended plans for a vote of no confidence following an intervention by the President, who established a committee chaired by Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene to investigate their concerns.
However, the members say no action has followed the committee’s work, prompting their renewed appeal.
They warned that continued inaction would further strain relations within the Assembly and weaken its authority in municipal governance.
