Former Multimedia Group journalist Samuel Kojo Brace, popularly known as “Ahanta Pele,” has officially declared his intention to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primary in the Ahanta West Constituency.
Mr Brace announced his decision at a press conference, ending months of speculation over whether he would enter active politics.
He said the decision followed years of calls from residents and listeners across the political divide urging him to use his experience and influence to help develop Ahanta.
“For close to a decade, many of you and thousands listening to me on radio and watching me on television have called on me to go into politics for the sake of this constituency we love,” he said.
According to Mr Brace, the calls have come not only from NPP supporters but also from people associated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Convention People’s Party (CPP).
He said the support was based largely on his commitment to the development of Ahanta rather than partisan considerations.
“Their message has been simple. Regardless of political ambition, they are prepared to support me because they know I love Ahanta and my commitment to its development,” he said.
Mr Brace said he had decided to respond to the calls because he believes he has the ideas and ability to mobilise resources to support development in the constituency.
“So I have heard the calls, and I have decided to respond because I know that when it comes to the development of our beautiful Ahanta, by the grace of God I have ideas and I know how to pull the resources together to help move this beautiful land of ours to where it has to be.”
He also confirmed that he had resigned from the Multimedia Group Limited to focus fully on what he described as the “Ahanta dream.”
