Ghanaians Deserve Answers: Time for an Independent Audit of COVID-19 Evacuations

Following the discrepancies surrounding the Minority’s statement on the Foreign Minister’s account, and the Minister’s subsequent clarification, the question of accountability must not end there.

If the Minority genuinely stands for truth and transparency, it must also demand an independent audit of Ghana’s COVID-19 evacuations.

These were public funds, contributed by ordinary Ghanaians whose livelihoods were already under immense pressure during the pandemic. Every cedi spent deserves proper accounting. Citizens have a right to know how much was spent, how the money was used, and whether those entrusted with managing the exercise can justify their decisions.

This should not be about political scores or partisan advantage. It is about protecting the public purse and restoring public confidence.

The government must initiate an independent, credible probe, and everyone responsible should cooperate fully.

Ghana deserves answers. Accountability must apply to everyone, without fear or favour.
