Former Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro MP Sylvester Tetteh has criticised Ghana Shippers’ Authority CEO Professor Ransford Gyampo following his comments on the NPP’s recent national delegates conference.

Tetteh questioned Prof Gyampo’s motives, suggesting his position under the government had influenced his assessment of the party.

“Because he is enjoying honey from the government, so he is saying what he wants,” he said in an interview on Asempa FM on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Prof Gyampo had criticised the NPP’s recent internal elections in Kumasi, arguing in social media posts that the party had failed to learn from its defeat in the 2024 general elections.

“The outcome of their elections shows two things. First, it is decidedly clear that there’s no remorse, there’s no change. Second, their political arrogance has deafened them such that they couldn’t hear what Ghanaians told them in 2024,” Prof Gyampo wrote.

Professor Gyampo also argued that the NPP was facing an identity crisis, saying the party was traditionally made up of elites and influential figures.

“It used to be an elite and doctrinal party of doyens. But they currently are battling an identity crisis. Our developmental challenges make it imperative that we are governed by regimes birthed by political parties that aren’t mules,” he added.

But Tetteh maintained that the NPP’s approach to politics was built around inclusiveness rather than the dominance of the elite.

“The NPP is a broader party, and we don’t use only the elites to rule the party or do politics. We haven’t lost our identity; it is inclusivity,” he stated.

To support his argument, Tetteh pointed to the participation of persons with disabilities and other groups in the party’s administration, saying this reflected its commitment to wider representation.

He also challenged Prof Gyampo to assess the NPP’s record on inclusiveness alongside that of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
