Ghanaian media personality Mona Gucci has expressed support for fashion personality Nana Akua Addo following reports of an alleged domestic abuse incident involving the actress and her husband.

Concern surrounding Nana Akua Addo grew after videos circulated online showing her receiving treatment at a hospital with what appeared to be facial injuries. The circumstances surrounding the injuries, however, have not been independently established.

Mona Gucci, who describes Nana Akua Addo as a childhood friend, responded with an emotional message urging her to prioritise her wellbeing rather than worry about public perception.

“We have known each other since childhood… and long before the world knew your name or celebrated your style… you were my friend,” Gucci wrote in a message shared on Instagram.

She also reminded Nana Akua Addo that she had nothing to be ashamed of and deserved “love that is gentle, respectful, and safe.”

Gucci further encouraged her friend to process the situation in whatever way felt necessary, telling her that she could cry, remain silent or speak repeatedly about what she was experiencing.

“What has happened does not erase your talent, your hard work, or the woman you are,” she added.

The reports have also brought renewed attention to a 2021 interview in which Nana Akua Addo spoke about dealing with infidelity in her marriage. She said at the time that the experience had left her “broken” and “hurt”, but that the couple sought counselling.
