Police in the Ashanti Region have launched investigations into an alleged child-stealing incident involving two pupils of Happy Royal International School in the Manhyia North area.
The Airport District Police Commander, Superintendent Kingsley Kawodie, confirmed that the case was reported on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, and investigations are ongoing.
Supt. Kawodie, however, dismissed reports circulating that 11 schoolchildren had been kidnapped in the region, explaining that the Police were investigating a case involving two pupils.
The clarification comes amid growing concern among parents and residents following reports of children allegedly being targeted around the school.
The headmaster of Happy Royal International School, Francis Koomson, said the school became aware of the incident at about 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, by which time the matter had already been reported to the Police.
“We don’t have first-hand information now, but we are relying on the Police for updates,” he said.
Mr Koomson urged parents, pupils and members of the public to remain vigilant, particularly during early morning movements.
He said the incident should serve as a reminder for parents and children to exercise caution while travelling to and from school.
The Police are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident and determine what happened to the two pupils.
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the children or identified any suspect as investigations continue.
The Police have also cautioned against spreading unverified information, particularly claims that could create unnecessary fear among residents.
