Residents of Apaaso, a suburb of Kintampo, have expressed frustration over a prolonged power outage that has left parts of the community without electricity since Friday, October 2, 2026.
The blackout, which has lasted for more than a week, has disrupted daily activities and caused significant inconvenience to residents, with many complaining about the lack of communication regarding the cause of the outage.
“The annoying part of the whole situation is that no one is even explaining the cause of this week-long blackout to us. It is painful and sad,” one affected resident lamented.
Another resident questioned why the community had been left in darkness for so long without any apparent intervention.
“Apaaso is not a village. It is part of Kintampo, yet this section has been without electricity since last Friday. Nothing is being done to relieve us of our suffering, and we have not been given any reason for the outage,” the resident stated.
The situation has also affected educational activities, as children struggle to study and complete their homework in the evenings. Businesses and other activities that depend on electricity have equally been disrupted.
“What nation are we living in? Our children cannot learn or do their homework in the evening because of darkness. What is our crime?” another frustrated resident asked.
The affected residents are appealing to the relevant authorities and electricity service providers to urgently investigate the situation, resolve the problem and restore power to the community.
They are also calling for clear communication to keep residents informed about the cause of the outage and when electricity is expected to be restored.
