American rapper Soulja Boy has hinted at a possible run for the United States presidency in 2028, raising the prospect of another entertainer entering the country’s political arena.
The rapper, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, shared the message “SOULJA BOY 2028” in an Instagram post on October 11, outlining issues he would prioritise if he pursued public office.
He identified economic opportunity, criminal justice reform, education, and the future of technology and artificial intelligence as his key areas of interest.
“A new chapter. A bigger vision. A commitment to creating opportunities for the next generation,” he wrote.
The rapper added that his experience in music, business and technology had encouraged him to consider how he could contribute to public service.
“Now I’m exploring what it means to bring that same vision to public service. The future starts with a conversation,” he said.
Soulja Boy later reinforced the suggestion in a comment on social media, asking followers whether they were ready for “President Draco”, a reference to his nickname.
However, he has not formally launched a campaign or disclosed which political party, if any, he would seek to represent. He has also yet to provide detailed policy proposals explaining how he would address the issues highlighted in his post.
The artist rose to international fame in 2007 with his hit single Crank That (Soulja Boy), which topped the Billboard Hot 100. He later expanded into business and technology ventures.
His suggestion comes as attention begins to turn towards the 2028 US presidential election, although the rapper’s post does not yet amount to a formal candidacy.
