Residents of Koblimahagu Zuo in the Tamale Metropolis have been left in shock after three children who had been reported missing were found dead inside a parked vehicle.

The children, aged three, five and eight, had reportedly been missing since Saturday, October 3, prompting a search by relatives and community members.

Their bodies were discovered on Monday morning inside a stationary vehicle in the community. The circumstances surrounding their disappearance and deaths remain unclear, with police investigations underway.

Assembly Member for the area, Seidu Fuseini, confirmed the incident and said the owner of the vehicle had been taken into police custody to assist with investigations.

According to the assembly member, the vehicle owner told police that he had locked all the doors before leaving the vehicle.

A relative of one of the children, Mohammed Juuna, also said in a social media post that the children were found trapped inside the stationary vehicle.

The bodies have since been conveyed to the morgue at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where autopsies are expected to help establish the cause and circumstances of their deaths.

The incident has renewed concern among residents as authorities work to determine how the children came to be inside the vehicle and what happened before they were discovered.

Police have not yet disclosed whether foul play is suspected and are expected to provide further information as investigations progress.

Authorities are also expected to establish the exact timeline of the children's disappearance and how they gained access to the vehicle.

For now, the community remains in mourning as families await answers from the ongoing investigation.
