ECG fault hits Tema as Central Region communities face scheduled blackout

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is working to restore electricity to parts of Tema following a network fault, while several communities in the Central Region are expected to experience a planned power interruption on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

In a notice issued on Sunday, October 11, ECG said the unplanned outage had affected Community 17, Timber Market, Resolve Hospital, Bakeshop, Marina Mall at Spintex, Baatsonaa and surrounding areas.

The company said engineers were working to identify and resolve the fault, although it did not provide a specific timeline for the restoration of power.

ECG apologised to affected customers for the inconvenience and assured them that efforts were underway to restore supply.

Meanwhile, the company has scheduled maintenance work in parts of the Central Region for Tuesday, October 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The planned exercise is expected to affect Komenda, Kissi, Ayensudo, Ampenyi, Elmina, Eguafo, Aburansa, Besease, Ebu Krom, Agona Town, Breman, Iture, Duakro, Amamuma and surrounding communities.

According to ECG, the maintenance is intended to improve electricity service delivery. Customers in the affected areas have been advised to prepare for the eight-hour interruption.

ECG has apologised for the inconvenience associated with both the network fault and the planned maintenance, urging customers in the scheduled outage areas to make the necessary arrangements ahead of Tuesday's exercise.
