Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Justice Srem-Sai, has confirmed that an arrest warrant has been issued for Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah in connection with an ongoing Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) investigation.
In a Facebook post on September 30, Justice Srem-Sai said the Accra High Court issued the warrant after the MP allegedly failed to honour an EOCO invitation since February 2026.
“I can confirm that the High Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of Mr AGYEI BAFFOUR AWUAH (Hon. MP), who has, since February 2026, refused to honour an EOCO criminal investigative invitation,” he stated.
He said the investigation followed a complaint involving alleged unauthorised financial transactions at SIC Life Savings & Loans Company Limited.
According to Justice Srem-Sai, the suspected offences include financial loss, dissipation of public funds and money laundering.
“Mr AWUAH’s imminent arrest is part of an inquiry by EOCO into a complaint of unauthorized financial transactions at SIC LIFE SAVINGS & LOANS COMPANY LTD resulting in crimes of financial loss, dissipation of public funds, money laundering, among others,” he said.
EOCO has previously said it invited Baffour Awuah twice in February in connection with its investigation into SIC Life, where his former law firm, Sarkodie Baffour Awuah & Partners, had been engaged to recover funds owed to the company.
The latest development escalates the dispute between the MP and EOCO, which began with the agency’s attempts to secure his attendance for questioning.
