The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned teachers sitting its ongoing promotion examination against paying money to individuals who claim they can secure automatic promotion.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the Service said it had received reports of individuals demanding money from candidates under the pretext of guaranteeing promotion.
GES stressed that the exercise was strictly merit-based and that no payment or financial inducement could influence the outcome.
“Management wishes to state categorically that no payment or financial inducement is required or will guarantee promotion. The process is transparent and purely merit-based. Therefore, candidates should not pay monies to anyone,” the statement said.
The Service urged candidates who meet the advertised eligibility requirements to approach the examination with confidence, dedication and a positive attitude.
It also called on staff who encounter such demands or have information about the alleged activities to report them to the police.
The warning comes as the GES continues its promotion examination for eligible staff seeking advancement in the Service.
