‘Stop Using My Taxes to Fund GBA Conferences’ — Barker-Vormawor Challenges AG’s Department
In a post published on his Facebook wall on September 30, 2026, Barker-Vormawor said he recently heard Deputy Attorney General Justice Sai disclose that the Attorney-General’s Department pays the dues and costs of its lawyers to participate in GBA conferences.
He criticised the practice, arguing that the GBA is a private association whose activities should primarily be funded by its members.
“I do not think this is a good use of my taxes,” Barker-Vormawor wrote.
“Private associations are the private affairs of their members. I see no reason why the Ghanaian taxpayer should subsidize the activities of any private association,” he added.
Barker-Vormawor called for the practice to be discontinued, concluding his post with, “I think the practice should be discontinued!”
