Suame MP John Darko has denied involvement in a post-judgment settlement between SIC Savings and Loans and Equity Savings and Loans, after questioning by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
In a press statement dated October 14, 2026, his law firm, Darko, Keli-Delataa & Co, said Mr Darko met EOCO investigators on Tuesday, October 13, after being invited to assist with ongoing investigations into the two financial institutions.
The firm said the questioning focused on Mr Darko’s work as legal counsel for Equity during its litigation with SIC over a matured but unpaid investment, as well as his membership of Equity’s board between 2015 and 2023.
According to the statement, the firm helped with the litigation and recovered part of the judgment awards for SIC but had no involvement in any subsequent settlement between the parties.
It also said the firm was unaware of Equity’s decision to dispose of land that had been attached by court order to a third party, ECOSWISS.
The statement added that the firm had already terminated its legal services to Equity because of unpaid fees before the post-judgment developments occurred.
Mr Darko had also ceased to be a board member by September 2023 and, according to the firm, did not participate in any decision to compromise the court judgment.
“[He] was certainly not a participant in any decision to compromise a court judgment in a conspiratorial scheme to deny SIC the benefits of its judicial awards,” the statement said.
The firm said Mr Darko remains committed to cooperating with EOCO and is prepared to provide further assistance concerning his role and that of the firm in the matter.
