Former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo has publicly endorsed her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Akofena, as the leader of the Kantanka family and the Kristo Asafo Church.

In a statement issued on Thursday, October 8, Adwoa Safo said her decision was guided by a desire to restore unity within the family and preserve the legacy of their late father, Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo.

She said the family must move beyond disagreements that emerged following their father’s death and focus on protecting what he built.

“The time has come for us, as a family, to transcend whatever differences, misunderstandings or grievances that may have characterised the immediate aftermath of the demise of our dear dad and consign them to history,” she stated.

Adwoa Safo also expressed her support for Israel and said she was prepared to work with him and her other siblings to advance their father’s vision.

“I have chosen the path of reconciliation, founded upon love, mutual respect and the enduring undisputed bonds of family,” she said.

Her statement marks a shift from the disagreements that followed Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s death in September 2025. The family had previously disputed Israel’s claim to leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission and maintained that the succession arrangements established by their late father should remain in force.

Adwoa Safo has now called on members of the Kristo Asafo Church and the wider Kantanka family to embrace the renewed commitment to unity.

“Our father’s legacy transcends any one individual. It is a collective inheritance and a profound responsibility entrusted to us, as his children,” she added.
