National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Organiser Joseph Yammin has officially declared his intention to retain the position, picking and submitting his nomination forms ahead of the party’s December 19, 2026, national executive elections.
Mr Yammin announced his decision at a press conference on Wednesday, October 21, confirming that he had completed the nomination process and paid the required fees.
“We are here to announce to you that we have picked nomination forms to contest the upcoming national elections. I am maintaining my position as the National Organiser of the party to go another term,” he said.
He added that he was waiting for the party to confirm the identities of other aspirants contesting for the position, saying the information would help him determine his campaign strategy.
“I am waiting to know my opponent and will be ready to go into battle on the 19th of December,” Mr Yammin stated.
He said the party was expected to make the list of aspirants known by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, which would give candidates a clearer picture of the competition ahead of the internal polls.
Mr Yammin also disclosed that NDC Deputy General Secretary Mustapha Gbande had picked and submitted his nomination forms to contest in the upcoming elections.
The re-election bid comes as the governing party prepares to select national executives who will oversee its organisational activities and political mobilisation ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Mr Yammin has previously indicated that he chose to seek another term as National Organiser despite calls from some party members for him to contest for the General Secretary position.
