National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy General Secretary Mustapha Gbande has picked nomination forms to contest for re-election, saying he hopes to strengthen the party’s preparations for the 2028 general elections.

Mr Gbande announced his decision on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, as the party prepares for its upcoming internal elections.

He urged party members to assess his performance based on his record of service, loyalty and dedication, expressing confidence in the experience he has gained during his current term.

“Experience matters. What I know is loyalty and dedicated service,” he said.

Mr Gbande acknowledged that his tenure had not been without challenges but maintained that he had remained committed to carrying out the responsibilities assigned to him.

He pledged to improve his performance if given another opportunity to serve, promising to bring greater experience and renewed commitment to the role.

“I will come back more polished, stronger to discharge a better responsibility for the party,” he stated.

Reflecting on his work as an operations officer for the NDC while also serving within the government machinery, Mr Gbande described the responsibility as difficult and demanding.

He admitted that some of his actions in the course of performing his duties may have offended party members and other individuals. He used the opportunity to apologise to anyone who felt aggrieved by his conduct.

“I may have offended a lot of people in the course of discharging my responsibility. Let me humbly use this opportunity to apologise to anyone I would have offended in line with discharging my responsibility,” he said.
