New Patriotic Party (NPP) National First Vice Chairman aspirant Richard Ahiagbah has rejected a recent Global InfoAnalytics poll, arguing that the actual outcome will be determined by delegates voting at the party’s national executive elections.

The poll, released ahead of Saturday’s election, placed Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, Henry Nana Boakye, Nana Akomea and Kodjo Fosu Boadu ahead of Ahiagbah in the First Vice Chairman contest.

Ahiagbah, who also serves as the NPP’s Director of Communications, questioned the relevance of the survey and said his attention remains on engaging delegates.

“As for Mussa Dankwah, leave him alone. I mean, we know what he does is a transactional poll that he’s putting out. But we are focused. The real poll will be what we are going to get on Saturday,” he said.

He also linked his campaign to what he described as the importance of regional balance in the party’s leadership. Ahiagbah said he believes his election could form part of a broader strategy to expand the NPP’s appeal beyond its traditional support base.

“To bring Richard in for regional balance is to accept a certain strategy that gets us in a position where we target this minority vote,” he said.

The comments come as the NPP prepares for its national executive elections scheduled for October 3 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
