Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has taken legal action against NPP communication team member Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah, popularly known as Benghazi, and Media General Ghana Limited following allegations linking him to musician Fantana.

Benghazi allegedly claimed that Ablakwa was in a romantic relationship with Fantana and had given her money he had misappropriated from public funds.

The allegations were made during a discussion on Onua FM on October 14, 2026. During the programme, Benghazi referred to Fantana as the minister’s girlfriend and further claimed that Ablakwa and his wife would face jail time.

“Okudzeto Ablakwa has given all the money he took to Fantana. He is having an affair with Fantana. Ablakwa and his wife will go to jail,” he alleged.

The comments reportedly sparked a reaction from Fantana.

Ablakwa has now filed a suit at the High Court of Justice in Accra, naming Benghazi and Media General Ghana Limited, which operates Onua FM and Onua TV, as defendants.

The writ of summons, issued on October 30, 2026, gives the defendants eight days after service to enter an appearance. It warns that failure to comply could lead to judgment being entered against them in their absence.

The legal action comes as Media General has issued a retraction and apology through Onua FM over the allegations made on the station.
