Alfred Kumi Ababio has conceded defeat in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Youth Organiser election, congratulating the winner, Abanga Fuseini Yakubu, and the other newly elected national officers.

In a post on X, Kumi Ababio openly acknowledged his defeat, saying he would not blame anyone or make excuses for the outcome.

“Today, I FAILED in my contest to become the NPP National Youth Organiser. I will not sugarcoat it, blame anyone, or hide behind excuses. I failed. The party has spoken, and I accept the verdict,” he wrote.

He congratulated Abanga Fuseini Yakubu and the other successful candidates, wishing them well as they take on their new responsibilities within the party.

Reflecting on the campaign, Kumi Ababio said the election had taught him that popularity and hard work alone were not enough to win a competitive contest.

“This election has taught me a painful lesson: being popular is not enough. Sacrifice is not enough. Hard work is not enough. Resources, organisation, strategy and preparation matter. I underestimated that reality, and I must own it,” he said.

He thanked those who supported his campaign with their resources, time, prayers and advice, as well as his family and God.

Kumi Ababio also acknowledged those who discouraged or criticised him during the campaign, saying their actions had contributed to the lessons he had learnt.

Quoting Philippians 3:13, he said he was determined to move beyond the defeat and use the experience to improve himself.

“I lost an election. I will not lose the lesson,” he said. He added that he would study the outcome, learn from it, and rebuild before returning to future political contests.

“The NPP has won, and we bless GOD! Victory 2028!” he concluded.
