The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has congratulated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the successful election of its new national executives.
In a statement signed by NDC General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the party commended the NPP and reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful political engagement and the protection of Ghana’s democratic gains.
The NDC said it remains committed to “the promotion of peaceful political engagement, democratic values and the collective responsibility of all political actors to protect and deepen Ghana’s democratic gains.”
The governing party also expressed hope that the newly elected NPP executives would work towards promoting the broader national interest rather than narrow partisan considerations.
“It is the fervent hope of the NDC that under the tenure of this new crop of executives, there will be mutual effort to ensure that the interest of Ghana always surpasses the narrow interest of the two respective parties,” the statement said.
According to the NDC, such an approach would contribute to efforts aimed at making Ghana a stronger and more prosperous nation.
The congratulatory message follows the NPP’s election of its new national executives over the weekend, as the party begins preparations for its next phase of political activities.
The NDC stressed that Ghana’s democratic development requires the collective responsibility of all political actors, regardless of their political affiliation
