Kennedy Agyapong’s spokesperson, Kwasi Kwarteng, has dismissed rumours that the former Assin Central MP has resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), saying he is currently in China on business.
Kwasi Kwarteng, spokesperson for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has dismissed reports suggesting that the politician has resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a post on his Facebook wall, Mr Kwarteng stated that Mr Agyapong was currently in China conducting business and had not submitted any letter of resignation to the party.
“Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong is currently in China conducting business. He’s not submitted any letter of resignation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to anyone. Please disregard any such report,” he wrote.
The clarification comes amid rumours circulating on social media about Mr Agyapong's alleged departure from the NPP.
Mr Kwarteng's statement directly addresses the claims, insisting that the former Assin Central legislator has not formally resigned from the party.
Mr Agyapong, a prominent figure within the NPP, contested the party's presidential primaries in January 2026 but lost to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speculation about his political future has surfaced repeatedly since the primaries, with his camp previously dismissing claims that he intended to break away from the party.
In February 2026, Mr Kwarteng also rejected suggestions that Mr Agyapong planned to leave the NPP to establish a new political movement.
For now, the latest statement from his spokesperson maintains that Mr Agyapong remains in the NPP, while dismissing the resignation reports as untrue.
Zetta Ghana will continue to follow developments surrounding the matter.
