Former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Crabbe, has withdrawn from the party’s National Chairmanship race and endorsed former General Secretary John Boadu.
Mr Boadu announced the development in a social media post ahead of the NPP’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3.
“Sammy Crabbe, an aspiring National Chairman of the NPP, has stepped down from the race and thrown his support behind John Boadu. Let’s win together!” he wrote.
Mr Crabbe was one of four aspirants cleared to contest the position. The other candidates are Mr Boadu, former National Chairman Paul Afoko, and former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko.
His withdrawal leaves the remaining candidates to contest the chairmanship as delegates gather at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to elect the party’s new national officers.
During the balloting exercise in September, Mr Boadu secured the first position on the ballot paper, while Mr Crabbe picked the second slot.
The NPP is holding the elections as part of its reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general election, with more than 7,000 delegates expected to participate.
